Barb has been assisting small communities to build resilient economies based on the unique characteristics of place since the late 1970s. With a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from MIT, she has authored numerous “how-to books” for state governments, and national organizations such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, US Small Business Administration, and Jobs for the Future. She has a long history of working for and assisting other not-for-profits to succeed including the National Civic League, Rocky Mountain Institute, and Vision, Inc. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, Denver, and was a frequent speaker on economic renewal at national conferences. She is known for creating 'communities of opportunity both in the US and abroad.
Bob has a diversified career in the management of both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. His not-for-profit experience includes serving as the founding Executive Director of One of Future Foundation, President of the Metro Association for Retarded Citizens, Director of the Secretariat of the World Economic Processing Zones Association. Bob has assisted 174 countries to create more robust economies and is viewed as a world expert in Special Economic Zones. He has an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and served as faculty at both Harvard and at the University of Colorado. He has done work for the Asian Development Bank, USAID, DiFID, African Development Bank, a variety of United Nations agencies, numerous national and local governments, and public companies.
Kathy is the founder and owner of NextWave Online, an online training and Mobile Apps development company. Her specialty is building teams and managing people. Kathy is our resident expert on the sharing economy. Kathy's talents include assisting small businesses and not -for-profits start up and manage operations. She has been involved in a number of educational start-ups, mobile app startups, and new ventures related to new modes of transportation including electronic vehicles. Educational endeavors include the Littleton Academy and Academy Charter School, Colorado, where she served as the first principal of the State’s first parent-initiated charter school. She holds a BA in Natural Science from Colgate University and is a certified Project Management Professional.
Brian knows that ‘doing what it takes’ excites commitment, raises passion, and provides satisfaction for all. He understands that learning leads to an organization’s or community's growth. With Masters degrees from both MIT and Harvard Business School in public policy and business, Brian's role in the Institute is to ensure that we have sound strategies that will help communities thrive and that we give communities tools that they need to grow communities, businesses, and organizations. His motto is: Strategy + execution = results.
Scott Woodard is a leadership development coach, helping people transform from strong to superb. He frames issues so people can take action and achieve their goals – for themselves, their organizations, their communities. He works with individuals and teams to see new patterns and create alternative ways to move forward. Together they identify small actions that lead to big changes. Scott has conducted workshops and trainings for leaders and teams, to identify their strategic goals and develop measurable outcomes. He has coached people from all walks of life: corporate executives and elected officials challenged to transform their organizations; Boomers trying to determine the “second acts” of their lives; and new graduates starting out in their first career.
